THE SKELETON
IN THE GARDEN

A NOVEL

When fourteen-year-old Chip Wordsworth’s mother unearths a human skeleton while planting a garden in their quiet Midwestern backyard, a long-buried mystery comes abruptly into light, forcing young Chip to confront questions far larger than he ever imagined. A quietly powerful story where innocence meets buried history and the uncomfortable truths of our time. Written with warmth, intelligence, and unexpected humor, The Skeleton in the Garden reminds us that the past is never truly silent, and that love can still grow from the darkest soil.

A must read about a young man learning how to deal with the uncertainty of life and the troubling times we are living in these days.

Meet Yonder Blair

Yonder Blair by Paolo G 2025

Yonder Blair is the nom de plume of Rodney Blair Sangster.

A retired professor himself, he knows of what he writes. He is grateful his experience in academia has not yet been matched by any personal involvement in the legal system.

But as a news junkie and an avid reader of crime novels and Law and Order television, he has developed an acute sense of the limits of justice in both academia and the so-called justice system itself.

Rodney enjoys his retirement years writing and cultivating his garden in Santa Barbara, California alongside his long-time partner, Rebecca.

Reviews

“Blair gives us a portrait of a character driven by a Don-Quixote-esque passion to find justice. It should appeal to any reader who has ever felt ‘screwed by the system.’ His story invites our solidarity.”

– Andrew Kerek, Professor and Author

“Ike’s journey in search of personal and professional happiness takes more detours than he could ever have imagined. You’ll find you never give up on Ike since he never gives up on himself.”

– Kathleen Sideli, Retired Study Abroad Director and Assistant Professor

“Blair takes us on an emotional journey from the halls of academia down the rabbit hole of the legal system, tempering the drama with delightful side trips to Europe. A fascinating character study with a perfectly poignant ending.”

– Patricia Cavit, MSW
